NEWTON - Kathe Brannon, Director of Volunteer Services and Patient Advocate knows that volunteers can be part of the first impressions patients and visitors experience when entering a new healthcare facility. Newton Memorial Hospital's volunteers number 300 adults and 75 juniors and are under the guidance of Brannon create an atmosphere of welcoming kindness.
Recently, it was decided to widen the scope of the Hospital's volunteers and include their services at the Milford Health and Wellness Center in Milford. Visitors will be greeted by a friendly face to help relieve anxiety and confusion. The Volunteers will be educated in the location of the various offices, treatment rooms and even where to find refreshment at the facility. Brannon said, "Volunteers have always been an important part of Newton Memorial Hospital. They have accumulated over 40,000 hours of volunteer time that has helped the Hospital and its staff both in time saved and money not spent. Volunteers inhabit every part of the Hospital both on and off site assisting patients, staff and the community. Volunteer work is a wonderful way to care for others. |
